How to shorten queues and not lose customers?

At Stříbrný Butchery, they pride themselves on quality and freshness, which is why they don't cut the sausages ahead of time for the display case. Each order is prepared on customer's request, which guarantees longer shelf life of the products. But there is a downside to this approach - the staff needs more time for each customer, which leads to long queues. And in today's hectic times, not every customer can afford to wait.
When it started to happen that people went elsewhere to shop, it was clear that a change was needed. But a central checkout wasn't the solution - the shop assistants wanted to stay in touch with customers, not just sit behind the till. So the company decided to take an innovative approach and approached Bizerba. After thorough planning and technical preparation during the renovation of the new store, they were able to introduce a modern system with automated checkouts, which streamlined service while maintaining a personal approach to customers.
is touchless, which brings greater safety for both customers and our employees. »

Self-service system for efficient and hygienic purchasing in the butcher's shop

Several companies were involved in the implementation of the entire system. Bizerba not only initiated and covered the entire project, but also supplied the weighing cabinets. The POS terminals were supplied by 4Max, while the hardware is from the global brand CCL. The software for the system was provided by ASW Systems a.s., and the money transfers are handled by Global Payments.
How does the system work?
At the beginning, the customer receives a card that serves as an identification element for the entire purchase. This card can be tailored to individual requirements and is not necessarily a "purchase" card. At each weigh-in, the customer identifies himself with his card, which also retrieves his shopping list and stores it in a virtual account.
Once the weighing is complete, the customer proceeds to the self-service checkout where he again identifies himself with his card. At the checkout, he can check what he has purchased and proceed to payment. Payment can be made either by credit card or cash.
If the customer also purchases unweighted items, he can easily scan them at the self-service checkout. In this way, the entire purchase is efficiently processed and the customer is checked out within one minute.
Automation in the butcher's shop has proven its worth

The introduction of the self-service system in Stříbrný butcher shop significantly accelerated the shopping process and eliminated long queues. This modern system has brought a number of benefits to customers and staff.
Faster customer check-in
"I wouldn't change today. In addition to saving time in serving customers, I have less work and hassle. Now I just refill the machine twice a week with change to give back," says Mr Stříbrný. Thanks to the self-service system, customers pay themselves at the end of the shopping process, eliminating unnecessary waiting and making the whole process run smoothly.
Better hygiene thanks to minimal contact with cash
The system significantly reduces cash handling, which contributes to better hygiene and safety for both customers and staff. "From a hygiene point of view, this is also a big step forward. Everything is touch-free, which brings greater safety for both customers and our employees," confirms Mr Stříbrný.In addition, sales assistants do not have to constantly put on and take off gloves when paying, which saves time and increases the fluidity of service.
Real-time overview of sales
Thanks to the connection to POS systems and cash payment machines, Stříbrný Butchers have a real-time overview of sales. This simplifies store management and end-of-shift administration. Instead of tediously counting sales, sales assistants can immediately start cleaning and attend to other important tasks.
